Juneau third grader wins annual $25,000 scholarship account

Maxine Petersen, age 8, of Juneau, AK, was randomly selected as the winner of this year's $25,000 scholarship account giveaway. Maxine attends Kax̲dig̱oowu Héen Elementary School in Juneau, AK where Alaska 529 surprised the third grader with the announcement during a school assembly. She is the first winner from Southeast Alaska.

Alaska 529 sponsors Illustrating Alaska exhibit

Alaska 529 has partnered with the Fairbanks Children's Museum to sponsor a new exhibit, Illustrating Alaska: Artists Making Children's Books through January, 2023. The traveling exhibit highlights the colorful and intriguing process of children's book illustraton by following the processes of four Alaska artists as they create children's books.

On Sunday, May 29, Alaska 529 joined 529 plans across the country with events and promotions to celebrate 529 Day by hosting ice cream giveaways across the state.

Alaska 529 has launched the new Dash to Save^™ and Dash to Save More^™ incentive programs aimed at reducing the burden of paying for higher education for Alaska students. Kiana Norton of Kotzebue, Alaska, was the lucky winner of this year's Alaska 529 $25,000 scholarship account giveaway. The 23-year-old is the first person off the road system in Alaska to win the annual scholarship account giveaway.

2020 $25k scholarship account winner

Boon Branson of Fairbanks was the lucky winner of this year's Alaska 529 $25,000 scholarship account giveaway. Boon celebrated his first birthday on September 28 and was awarded the scholarship the next day at a small gathering of family, Alaska 529 representatives, and Dash, the Alaska 529 mascot, at the Fairbanks Children's Museum. Boon's parents were pleasantly surprised to learn of the scholarship award.
